These may be made for tinier babies by using baby or sport weight yarn and a size F crochet hook:

Please measure hats carefully...they should be no more than 11" across before stitching up.

Materials needed:  2oz soft 4 ply worsted yarn;  size G crochet hook.

Row 1: Ch 35, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across row.  Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2: Work in the back loops only.  Sc in each st across row. Ch 1 and turn.

Rows 3-56: Repeat row 2.  End off after the last st on Row 56 leaving a 12" tail to stitch up side and gather top. Finishing: Sew back loops of first and last rows together;  when you reach the top weave thread in and out to gather.  Pull tightly.  Add a matching pompom on the top.

Before gathering, hat should measure approximately 7" X 10.5" - 11".
